第一次听到《Elemental》专辑中那首与专辑同名的歌，就觉得很爽——层次丰富的器乐，充满磁性和穿透力的歌唱，说不出的舒服，属于我称之为“有洗涤肠胃功效”的音乐。于是认识了Tears for Fears这支颇为异类的“乐队”，打上引号，是因为其实也就是Roland Orzabal一个人而已，当我知道整张专辑所有词曲、每一轨录音（器乐、主唱、和声）全部出自这家伙一人之手（口），真是吓了一跳（原来世界上真的有全才啊）！
这张专辑比较短，一共只有十首歌，但是却花了Roland整整4年来创作——1989那张声明显赫的《Seeds of Love》（那里面的一首“Sowing the Seeds of Love”没听过的人大概不多了）之后，到1993年《Elemental》之前，TFF只出了一张精选集《Tears Roll Down/Greatest Hits》。所以，这十首歌每一首都很优秀，每一首都值得一听再听，听完之后就知道，原来摇滚也可以如此动听，尤其是那种绚丽的的吉他（一如其早期名作“Everybody Want To Rule The World”），犹如意识流小说般的曲名和梦幻般的歌词意境，Roland极具穿透力的歌喉（信不信，Aska就跟这位老兄学了不少）。如果要说有点什么不够完美，那就是Roland的歌词离传世大作的境界还有那么一点点距离（例如SP的《Mellon Collie》），不过此人驾驭电声乐器的能力实在是大牛，也就顾不得歌词那么多了 :D 况且歌词也决非平庸，尤其是在那种亦真亦幻的意境中，颇有独到之处。总之，这个属于不怎么用太多描述的专辑，反正你一听就会喜欢的。
